Atheist Objection – The Universe Itself Grounds Universals – Classical Theism

I have heard many Atheists try to appeal to the Universe as a grounding for Universals such as the Laws of Logic, Uniformity and other metaphysical concepts. However Atheists fail to recognize that the Universe itself is a composite concept–and is thus contingent. Or in other words, the Universe is a sum of things. So accounting for Universal (which are contingent) upon another contingent thing (the Universe) will lead you into an infinite regress of contingent things to account for the Universals.

I would argue since God is necessary, and necessary things are not contingentGod serves as the ultimate foundation for Universals.

This line of reasoning does seem to presuppose that only something that is not contingent is the only plausible foundation for contingent things. However–I would counter this by showing that appealing to other contingent things in order to account for contingent things would lead to an infinite regress.
